Low Calorie Fruit & Herb Drinks

Over the last few months, I’ve been making some major changes to my life. I am determined to be “swimsuit ready” this Summer for the first time in seven years! The weather is already getting warmer here and I can’t hide inside my long pants and sweaters for much longer. Along with starting an exercise routine, I have been making changes to my eating habits also. I am trying to incorporate more fresh fruits and veggies in every meal, as well as make better choices with my beverages. Water is great, but sometimes I want something a little more exciting to sip on!

Core Four TEN Calorie Sodas

I often add fruit and herbs to my water, so I was excited to try some of my favorite combinations with these new   DPSG Four Ten sodas: 7UP, Sunkist, A&W, and Canada Dry. Each one only has 10 calories per serving! I decided on  7UP and Canada Dry to try out and picked up a few liters at Walmart. They also had the herbs and fruit that I had in mind for these yummy drinks. One-stop shopping is always a plus in my book!

Fruit & Herb Drink Recipes

I started with the herbs Sage, Rosemary, and Mint. The fruits that I chose were Strawberry, Orange, Raspberry, and Blackberry. Add the herbs and fruit to your cup, you can lightly mash them with a fork to release some of the flavors. You can add ice also, I personally don’t like ice in my drinks because as it melts it will dilute my drink. Instead, I use frozen fruit to chill my drink and it works out fine.

For my first drink, I mixed Canada Dry Ginger Ale with Strawberries and Rosemary. I wasn’t sure about using Rosemary in a drink, I’ve only ever used it in Italian cooking recipes but it turned out delicious!

For the next drink, I mixed 7UP with Raspberry and Mint. This is a classic combination of flavors that tastes great with the citrus in 7UP.

Next, I mixed Canada Dry Ginger Ale with Sage leaves and Blackberries. The berries are so sweet, but the ginger ale cuts that down a bit so they work well together.

My last drink is simple – 7UP and Orange. Some might say it’s citrus overload, but I love it!

The fruit in these drinks add sweetness, so no additional sugar is needed. Also, when you’re sipping the drinks you can smell the fresh herbs! So not only are these delicious to drink, but they also provide a wonderful aroma to brighten up your day. The best part about these drinks is that by using the new  DPSG Four Ten sodas with only 10 calories per serving, I can have more than one without breaking my diet. These sodas may be light in calories, but not in flavor. They taste just as good as the originals!
