Halloween Glitter Ribbon Wreath

Halloween is such a great holiday because of the costumes and colors, but also because you can decorate in such fun and whimsical ways with no restrictions! I love the combination of orange, bright green and purple so I wanted to incorporate them into my door wreath without making my usual yarn wreath. I picked up a few colors of glitter wire ribbon at Micheal’s and an 18″ wire wreath. When I was finished I also added a Spooky sign that I made last year with a piece of wood I painted orange and some pre-painted letters that I bought at Micheal’s.

Supplies:

  • 2 spools of 1 1/2″ x 10’green glitter wire edge ribbon
  • 1 spool of 1 1/2″ x 10′ orange glitter wire edge ribbon
  • 1 spool of 2 1/2″ x 10′ printed glitter wire edge ribbon
  • scrap string, or thin ribbon
  • wire wreath

Instructions:

1. Wrap the wreath with the 1 1/2″ green ribbon, slightly overlapping the ribbon as you go.

2. Measure the 2 1/2″ 8 inches long then accordion fold it back and forth 7 times so that you have 3 loops on each side. The use a piece of string to cinch the ribbon in the middle.

3. Pull each loop out to form a full bow. One side will be inside out unless your ribbon is double sided. You can just flip it right side out.

4. Use an extra piece of the 1 1/2″ ribbon to tie the bow to the wreath.

5. Repeat with the remaining printed ribbon so you have 2 total. Then make 2 orange bows with the 1 1/2″ ribbon, but measure these 6″ long in step 2. Tie the 2 printed ribbons side by side, then add an orange ribbon on either side.

And you’re done! You can add some cobwebs, or spiders. Or you can make a hanging sign like the picture above. Make it unique!

Wow, great job. Purple is my favorite color and it’s a unique choice for a Halloween/Fall wreath. I totally love how it works with the orange/green/black!
