Summer Pool Side Must Haves

Today’s post is brought to you by Huggies Little Swimmers. It’s all about Summer and having some pool side fun, you’re going to love it!

Summer Pool Side Must Haves

The official start of Summer is less than a month away! In fact, it feels like Summer is already here in Southern California with temperatures in the mid 90’s. This Summer is going to be a hot one! Each year we wait for the Memorial Day sales to buy an inflatable pool for the backyard, but since the warm weather is already here we broke down and bought one. On the bright side, we can also start having our weekend bbq pool parties early!

My husband and I enjoy having our friends and family over during the Summer for weekend parties. He likes to cook dinner on the grill and the kids can play in the pool while I sit back and relax.

Summer Pool Party Ideas & Tips

We always have a snack table set up to make sure that our guests can enjoy themselves until dinner is ready.

Summer Pool Party Ideas & Tips

I have a big box of solid color party plates, napkins and bowls and party supplies in the garage so that I can mix and match colors to make each party a little special with fun decorations. If you need more great pool party ideas, be sure to check out the fun pool party that the Hostess With The Mostess put together!

Summer Pool Party Ideas & Tips

Even though we have a small pool at home, sometimes we like to go to the community pool, or to the pool at our gym to play on the water slide. It’s fun to get out of the house and play! But before we can go anywhere, we have to get our bag packed. With 3 kids all in different stages (toddler, preschool and school age), each one has their own necessities to add to the pool bring. Needless to say, our bag is packed full!

Summer Pool Side Must Haves

Summer Pool Side Must Haves:

  1. Snacks – When we’re at the pool I don’t want to carry around a cooler so I usually will pack dry snacks such as pretzels or crackers, and I also like to add the fruit and veggie puree pouches. Even the older kids likes those!
  2. Water Bottles or Sippy Cups – More times than not, if I pack my kids’ sippy cups they get lost. So I bring a few mini water bottles instead. They can be re-filled and when you’re ready to leave you can toss them.
  3. Swim Diapers – I have been using the Huggies Little Swimmers for years. They work great and have side tabs for easy on/off if your little one is potty training.  The best part is, if you don’t want to mess with another wet bathing suit you don’t have to! They are designed with cute little characters so they can be worn by themselves.
  4. Spray Leave -in Conditioner & Wide Tooth Comb – The chlorine in pool water can be harsh on fine hair. After you and the kids are done swimming be sure to rinse off and comb out your hair so that you don’t end up with a knotted mess when you get home.
  5. Pool Toys – We have a separate stash of pool toys set aside just for taking to public pools because often times they will get lost or broken when we’re out. Keep your favorites at home where you can take care of them! We also like to take bubbles along if it’s allowed by the facility.
  6. Sunscreen – I like to use the spray sunscreen, especially on the littles. It can be tough to get them to sit still when you get to the pool, they’re so excited to jump in!
  7. Beach Towel – This is definitely a must have item, but call ahead to see if towels are offered at your pool. If you don’t have to bring towels, that’s a lot of room left for other things.
  8. Travel first aid kit – Bumps and booboos happen everywhere, so be prepared! I bought a small first aid kit in the travel section years ago and it have been a life saver on so many family outings.
  9. Wet Wipes – These are especially handy if you don’t have kids in diapers anymore and have no need to carry wipes. Kids always have sticky hands and when you’re playing outside you don’t want dirt and ick stuck to your kids!
  10. Clorox Wipes – Let’s face it, public restrooms are gross and kids want to touch everything. Gross, right? Just take a wipe and do a quick swipe before they hit the potty. You can get a small pack of these in the travel section.

What’s are some of your pool side must haves?

I love the snack table! Using streamers was such a great idea to make stripes. For whatever reason, the only thing I ever think to do with them is twist them to hang from the ceiling, edge of the table, etc.
