Summer Book Recommendations for Kids: Books For Traveling

This week let’s jump into some books that you can take on some of your family fun summer travels! Many of us take family trips over the summer months with our kiddos who are out of school. We may travel in a car or on a plane, and need some entertainment for our small ones to pass away the hours.

Kids Books Recommendations for Summer Trips

For the road travelers….

Roller Coaster by Marla Frazee

Roller Coaster

Clickity, clackity. Clickity, clackity. The roller coaster car is going up, up, up to the highest spot. And at least one of the people in the car has never ridden on a roller coaster before…ever. Wheeeeeee!

Twelve engaging character set their fears aside to ride a roller coaster for the first time. Join these fantastic, frenzied folks as they try something they’ve never done before. Bright illustrations keep your child engaged and allow them to truly experience the plot of this book.

For the paradise travelers…

The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister

The Rainbow Fish

“A long way out in the deep blue sea there lived a fish. Not just an ordinary fish, but the most beautiful fish in the entire ocean. His scales were every shade of blue and green and purple, with sparkling silver scales among them.”

Sharing his most beautiful possession, Rainbow Fish will engage even your youngest child with his heart of gold and silver scales. This book has accompanied many families I’ve worked with on vacations and always returns with stories of taking it to the beach, sharing it with a new friend on a plane, or reminding them of their favorite adventure.

Taking time out for you and your children to share a book, while on a trip, can make some of the most bonding memories. Don’t hesitate to look around while on your vacations; check out gift shops, local book stores, and maybe an appearance of your child’s favorite author.

Til’ next time!

Jackie

Jackie

Jackie is from Northern California and has been working with children of all ages for over 10 years. As an Elementary Teacher she loves to share her experiences and knowledge. Although she has no children of her own just yet, she enjoys sharing tips from the trade on simple things you can do at home with your kiddos. When not writing she loves to cook, visit friends, and spend time with family.
