Cinnamon Pecan Cookie Bars

There are so many reasons why I love Fall – the crisp weather, rich colors, apples, pumpkin. But the one thing I love the most is that the heat subsides and I am able to bake delicious treats any time of the day! The treats that I make are not always from scratch, this is a busy time of year for us and semi-homemade options are sometimes the best way to offer yummy treats to my friends and family. By using a cake or cookie mix and adding in delicious flavored M&M’s® I can make a yummy treat in no time!

Ready to get started on our Cookie Bars? Let’s gather some ingredients!

Cinnamon Pecan Cookie Bars

For this recipe, I started with the new Pillsbury™ Cinnamon Bun Cookie Mix, added 1 egg and 1/2 cup of Mott’s® Applesauce in lieu of the butter called for in the recipe on the box. When you make cookie bars and bake the entire dough recipe in one pan, the bars tend to be dense and gooey. I like a lighter cookie, which is what the applesauce makes.

After you combine the mixture, add 3/4 cup of M&M’s® Milk Chocolate Harvest, and 1/4 of the new M&M’s® Pecan Pie, stirring gently. The amount of M&M’s® Pecan Pie may seem like such a small amount, but this variety is very strong and just a little bit provides a lot of flavor!

Next, spoon the mixture into a greased 13×9 pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 22-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when stuck in the center of the dish.

Once the bars are completely cooled spread on the Pillsbury™ Creamy Supreme® Cream Cheese Frosting. Be sure that the bars are cooled or the frosting will melt and you will have a big mess. Yes, I am speaking from experience!

Now all that’s left to do is cut the bars and enjoy! I serve the bars with Snapple® Apple to make this treat a true taste of Fall.

I purchased all of my ingredients at my local Walmart where I found several other flavors that I would love to try. What is on your Must Try list of recipes for Fall?
