Cardboard Bunny Candy Holder

A few years back I asked to host Easter brunch for my family and my husband and I had so much fun putting together the Easter egg hunt. I remember spending several nights stuffing eggs with candy in preparation for the hunt. This year we will be hosting again and I wanted to make some table decorations that could also be sent home with the kids, full of candy of course.

These cardboard roll bunnies can be a project to complete with your kids, it’s very simple. I used paper towel roll as opposed to toliet paper rolls because they are a bit thicker. We painted each one with basic craft paint then set them aside to dry. While they were drying I cut out hearts from white cardstock for the feet, then once the rolls were dry I glued the hearts to the bottom and rounded out the back of the heart.

Next, I cut out some ears for the bunnies from cardstock.

I tried to glue the ears to the back of the cardboard roll and they kept peeling off before they were dry, so I put a piece of washi tape over the back of the ears to hold them in place. It peeled off easily once the ears were dry.

While I waited for the ears to dry I drew on a face for my bunny with basic markers and fine tip Sharpie.

Lastly, I added on a little pompom tail to the back because it wouldn’t be a proper bunny without a tail!

These rolls hold lots of candy, I filled mine with HERSHEY’S KISSES Milk Chocolates and ROLO Candy. They could also hold the mini REESE’S Peanut Butter Cups or WHOPPERS ROBIN EGGS too.

I tested out the cardboard rolls to see if the bottom would hold the candy and it’s still holding strong!

These REESE’S Peanut Butter Bunnies also fit perfectly inside with room to spare for other candies too.

My favorite Easter tradition is doing up baskets for my sons. No matter how old they get as long as they still live with me I’m going to do up baskets for them. LOL
