Oregano Essential Oil: Nature’s Best Antibiotic!

Oregano Essential Oil: Nature's Best Antibiotic!

This is an exciting option for the many people who are allergic to penicillin, and for those who prefer homeopathic remedies to the over-usage of antibiotics. I encourage everyone to give this a try to help reduce the antibiotic resistant “super-bugs.”

Oregano is an herb that has so many health benefits, and is something that can be taken every day to prevent and treat health ailments. It is anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, and is high in antioxidants, Vitamin K, iron, calcium, and omega fatty acids.

Studies have shown that quality oregano essential oil kills food born pathogens, pathogens like E. Coli, and superbugs like MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus). Oregano oil can be used topically (must dilute with coconut oil or your preference, when using directly on the skin) to treat rosacea, remove planter’s warts, skin tags and alike.

I love this microbiology experiment that a teenager did in his school laboratory- just a quick visual on how 3 drops of Oregano essential oil killed all the bacterium E.Coli in a petri dish when penicillin only cleared a small diameter around the test site.

Oregano oil is considered a “hot oil” so when using it directly on the skin it must be diluted, but if you are taking it internally to prevent or treat ailments (ex: cold/flu), fill a veggie-capsule and take several times a day at the onset of symptoms*.

*Not all essential oils are safe for ingestion, please check the small print to determine if it’s safe to ingest (not all oils are created equally).
